Black Mirror House | “Joan is Awful” In September 2022, a Netflix film crew descended on our American Bungalow in Berkshire to film some scenes for Season 6 of Black Mirror, starring Salma Hayek, and they inspired me to create the Rock Gardens I’ve wanted to build for years!

…before they were “mainstream” cool!

That was back in 2004, before YouTube even existed. These days we have the joys of watching great Men like Michael Portillo, Chris Tarrant and Francis Bourgeois strutting their stuff on the footplates but I was a Woman doing it almost 2 decades ago and I have amazing footage and memories to show for it…

I had a sense that Q1 of 2023 was going to be longer, colder, darker and starker than ever before and I wasn’t going to let it drag me down. Nope, if I was going to be inside hiding from January, February and the best part of March, I was going to make the most of my time. I had a plan up my sleeve and it didn’t involve sitting on my backside wishing away the weeks. I decided it was time for a rebrand…

I've documented this build purely because it meant a lot to me and, after the crappy time we've had with Covid over the last couple of years, which has been really hard, even for an extremely resilient Woman like me, and because I decided a change was as good as a rest. "Switching things up" has always worked wonders for me, so this build has given me something fresh to focus on and I'm over the moon with my beautiful new booth. It looks cool and it sounds great, in fact, it has exceeded my expectations!
